Medically attended injury is based on positive response to the survey questions “During the past three months, that is since (91 days before today’s date) did [person] have an injury where any part of the body was hurt, for example with a cut or wound, broken bone, sprain or burn?” and “Did [person] talk to or see a medical professional about this injury?”

§ Estimates are based on household interviews of a sample of the civilian, noninstitutionalized U.S. population and are derived from the National Health Interview Survey Family component.
